With Zoom binoculars you can zoom in on an image within nanoseconds. It uses fairly complex technology that allows you to zoom quickly from as low as 7x magnification to 20x or higher. Although this is the high-tech toy of the binoculars, there are two things to keep in mind:

·         There are a lot of small moving parts in zoom binoculars, which has unfortunately a disadvantage,
namely a high potential for breakdown and damage. You will get a double or out-of-focus image that will give you a headache.

·         Zoom binoculars are also highly sensitive to movement. If you do not have a steady hand, you need image stabilization, or you can stay with the lower-powered binoculars. The simplest remedy for image movement is to stabilize your view with a stand or mount.

The combination zoom technology with image stabilized binoculars is getting better, but you are likely to run into trouble if you combine zoom technology with any other feature, don’t take chances with the already volatile zoom feature. Cheaper zoom binoculars tend to have a high breakdown rate, so if you are going to invest in a pair of zoom binoculars, we recommend to look at the bit more pricey ones.
